The Current Situation of Afghanistan
The US and the Taliban signed Doha Accord in February 2020 and direct discussion started between Taliban and the US representatives. The Taliban promised that they would not permit any militant group to utilize Afghan soil for attacks on any country which had paved the way for the Doha Accord. According to Doha Accord the US and its NATO allies would withdraw all troops in 14 months if the Taliban upheld its promises and proceeding with national peace talks . This peace process has generated hope for a political settlement to the four-decade-long conflict. The security situation throughout the country remains dire, with high levels of violence against civilians and Afghan security forces even as the Taliban have refrained from attacking US forces. The Afghan government is suffering from high casualties in recent days as fighting is continued in 26 out of total 34 provinces and Taliban are capturing provinces after provinces.
