The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a flag ship of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt & Road (BRI) vision. CPEC is a great economic venture which offers economic upheaval to Pakistan and Western China. It is even known as China’s Marshal Plan for its trustworthy partner-Pakistan. The Marshal Plan was given by the US to Europe after World War II to revive its economy, Similarly CPEC is for Pakistan to recover its economy after ten years of ‘War on Terror’. <script data-ad-client="ca-pub-7646793657020609" async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script> It connects Pakistan’s Gwadar Port with China’s Xinjiang province through a network of roads, highways and railways. China is developing infrastructure in Pakistan which will in turn provide it easy access to the Middle East and Central Asia. CPEC provides China a safe access to Middle East due to its proximity to ‘Strait of Hormuz’. CPEC is the only

  China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a massive infrastructure investment which may usher in a new era of trade and growth for economies in Asia and beyond. The Chinese President Xi Jinping launched BRI in 2013 which aims to connect East Asia with Europe. The plan was two-pronged: the overland Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road. BRI is a vast network of railways, energy pipelines, highways, and streamlined border crossings, both westward—through the mountainous former Soviet republics—and southward, to Pakistan, India, and the rest of Southeast Asia. President Xi believes that Such a network would expand the use of Chinese currency, the renminbi, enhance economic activities and increase regional connectivity . BRI has both geopolitical and economic inspirations. It aims to develop new investment opportunities, cultivate export market for its own products and boost its incomes and domestic consumptions.      International relation is the study of the interaction of nation-states and non-governmental organizations in fields i.e., politics, economics, and security. My writing focusses on geopolitics of South Asia because since the advent of the twenty-first century, the prominence of South Asia is enhancing due to the economic rise of China and its outreach in South Asia and beyond through its grand economic ventures Belt and Road Initiative and String of Pearls strategy, the growing extremism in the region, Afghanistan issue, Indo-US strategic partnership and the strategic rivalry between India and China. A wave of geopolitical changes is seen throughout the region where many regional and global countries are involved for their own interests in their own way. The United States’ attention is shifted from the Middle East towards Asia and primarily South Asia.
